MacroVation combines deep-tech company building and defense-program transition experience with hands-on materials, formulation, laboratory, and prototype-system engineering. The core team is supported by government-contract operations, compliance, and specialist technical and defense-transition advisors.
David Sherrer is President and CEO of MacroVation. His prior record includes founding Nuvotronics and Haleos, two companies built and transitioned to strategic acquirers, and program experience spanning DARPA Phase I–III execution.
Larry Luster leads materials and formulation engineering across MacroVation’s active defense R&D programs. His work spans formulation development, materials characterization, polymer and composite systems, experimental execution, and translation of laboratory results into repeatable prototype performance. He brings research experience from Virginia Tech’s materials and polymer-engineering environment together with hands-on experimental and characterization experience.
Program & Business Operations
Sam Peltier directs program operations, including schedule coordination, documentation flow, vendor coordination, lab logistics support, and deliverable preparation under CEO and technical-lead direction.
Patricia Simmers leads government-contract accounting, DCAA-aligned controls, and compliance documentation across MacroVation's active programs, maintaining QuickBooks of record.
Technical Advisors
Technical advisors are independent specialists engaged in an advisory capacity. They are not employees, officers, or principal leadership of MacroVation.
Dr. Michael Bortner is Professor of Chemical Engineering at Virginia Tech, where he directs the Bortner Research Group. He advises MacroVation on materials chemistry, polymer processing, and technical diligence across active defense programs.
Rick Thompson advises MacroVation on defense program strategy, prime contractor engagement, and DoD transition pathways, drawing on a record of prime-integrator and program-office relationships across U.S. defense platforms.
MacroVation works with government program offices, defense primes, platform integrators, research partners, and manufacturing partners on funded development and transition opportunities.
